Overview: Works as part of and in conjunction with the sales team within a defined market to support the sales and distribution of life and health insurance products (includes disability and long term care). Works with referral sources, specifically Private Client Advisors, Financial Advisors, Retail and Business Banking partners to promote the insurance business and generate revenue for the Bank. Primary Responsibilities: - Consult with clients and Financial Advisors on complex cases and joint appointments to support client needs and profitability. - Serve as insurance subject matter expert to assess, analyze and prepare recommendations for Financial Advisors and clients. - Determine the best advice and product approach for customer contact situations. - Emphasize fully underwritten insurance business and sell insurance products directly to clients to meet client needs. - Execute business plan to meet and exceed gross and net insurance sales goals within assigned market. - Proactively call on Financial Advisors to communicate strategies that increase product sales within the insurance business. - Utilize business tools to target key opportunities that align with strategic initiatives. - Regularly review the book of business with Financial Advisors to prospect and identify new insurance business opportunities. - Develop Centers of Influence (COI) by cultivating relationships along with the M & T Securities sales force and referral sources. - Deepen relationships with existing Financial Advisors and identify opportunities to engage Financial Advisors that are not fully utilizing insurance products. - Conduct large group product training and presentations, including seminars and workshops, on insurance products. - Educate and coach the sales force, primarily Financial Advisors, in assigned market to advocate promotions and provide other informative communications on insurance products, such as newsletters. - Work in conjunction with Sales Planning and Strategy and MTS Sales Management to promote insurance solutions and an integrated sales process. - Understand and adhere to the Companys risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Companys Risk Appetite. - Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. - Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M & T Bank brand. - Maintain M & T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. - Complete other related duties as assigned. Scope of Responsibilities: The position functions as a subject matter expert (SME) in the field to provide support to Private Client Advisors, Financial Advisors, Retail and Business Banking to ensure a profitable distribution channel for insurance products, ultimately generate revenue and increase profitability for the Bank. Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Education and Experience Required: Associates degree and minimum 5 years proven investment, insurance sales or financial services sales experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years proven investment, insurance or financial services sales experience. Minimum of 1 years sales administration experience. FINRA Series 6 or 7 and 63 licenses. State Life, Accident and Health Insurance License(s). State Variable Insurance License(s). Education and Experience Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics or Mathematics. Internal wholesaling experience at life insurance, mutual fund or annuity company. Experience presenting investment or insurance products to financial advisors and/or clients. Investment product sales or support experience. Proven success in problem analysis and resolution, consultative selling techniques and broad market perspective. Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, computer, etc. Frequently communicates with internal/external parties.
